Subject: Very interesting
The grandson of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, served in the Royal Navy (RN) during WWI. His story is told through letters to his parents and from friends. It's an interesting picture of the life of a son of the upper class in England just before the war began. He was a friend to, and served with, Prince Albert, grandson of Queen Victoria, among others. During his naval training he travelled extensively, met the Tsar and his daughters and many other well-known leaders.
Although the book is titled "Harold Tennyson" there is also an appendix which briefly relates the story of his brother who also died in the war. The Tennyson family lost two of their three sons to the war.
